Mom went to work today! She is not feeling well but she stayed all day she said she ate some yogurt and Cheerios and has been drinking alot of water. She is really tired and just wants to go home. We talked about making an appointment to go and try on wigs. She didn't really say to much about it but I think it would be a good idea for us to do this. We can have a girls day maybe I can get her to go to lunch after. She is going to go home and get some rest.

Dec 20 2012. On Dec 20 2012
Mom had a double mastectomy we had to be at the hospital at 6:30 Am (Ogden Regional) They prepped her for the surgery. Dad Heather Grandma Nelson and I were there with her visiting her before she went. Grandma Butcher was home and really sad that she was not able to be there. Mom was good she was talking Laughing and being as strong as she could. they came and got her we all gave her a kiss and told her she would be ok and of course tried not to let her see us cry. As we need to be strong for her. Its now 11:30 am and she is in surgery they said it would be about 4 hour. So we went and got something to eat and headed back to the waiting room. I have been trying to keep Becki and Grandma up to date as they were not able to be there. So 4 hours later she was done and was in recovery. Dr. talked with all of us and told us that it went good and that they had to remove 2 lump nodes. She said the hardest part was putting the port in she had to place it 3 different time. We went in the recovery room and hung out with mom as she had a few things that she needed to make sure to do so she could go home. So around 8 we left the hospital and she was able to go home. She is doing good just really tired.

Today is mom's Birthday. I wend down and spent time with her it was a good day Dec 25 Well its Christmas and today is not a good day. Dad has the flu so we were not able to go down as we didn't want to get sick and dad needs to rest. Mom was not doing to well as she would say this was the worst Christmas ever. I talked to her a few time towards the end of the day she was doing better.

Mom now has the flu. She has been up all night this is not good. She was not able to talk to me today as she has been trying to get rest. Dec 31 Mom and dad came to my house we gave our Christmas gifts and went to lunch mom seemed to be doing really good today. I'm sorry I should have started this and updated everyday. I will do better.

Today was 1st Chemo treatment at 2:30 we got their the Dr looked to make sure mom has healed good to make sure they can start the Chemo. They said she was good to start today. Mom is really scared and not to sure what is going to happen. The nurse came and talked to us and then we started the treatment around 4pm. The first thing they do is put some cream on her port so that it wont hurt as bad to get the needle in it had to sit for a while before they started. Mom is scared of needles but the nurse wanted her to look at it so she knows what kind of needle is to be used with the post. They told us that the port is for Chemo and not to let anyone else use it. At this time mom is doing ok. Then they ran meds through the IV. The nurse talked to mom the whole time telling her everything she was doing. They give so much information its hard to remember everything we are being told. They pushed the chemo through it was red they call it the red dragon. Mom said that she can fell it going into her body. so the Chemo is don't and now they are flushing her it has about 45 min left. Dad left to go get all her meds. Mom and I sat there she worked on helping me with a blanket I'm making. She is now all done and we are leaving. Dad is not back yet so I took mom home she seemed to be doing good she said she has a bad headache. I talked to mom when I got home she was really tired and was taking a bath and going to bed.

Called to check up on mom today and she was sleeping. Around 3 am she woke up not feeling to well she had threw up a little. And still has a bad headache. Dad gave her more meds to help with the nausea. She is back in bed and sleeping. Dad has been making her drink and letting her sleep for a bit today. She has not wanted to eat yet today. Talked with mom and she is doing ok she is just really tired and not wanting to talk to anyone today. She has been in bed all day

Mom is feeling much better today she is up and out of bed going to go to the store. She has been drinking water and eating very little. Had not even half a hot dog and would not eat anymore. She has been up and cleaning the house feels ok just really tired.

Mom is doing really good she was so happy today she said that she feels so good the best she has in along time. I made an appointment for her and I to go try wig's on. We will be doing this Feb 8th before her next Chemo treatment.
